Earlier this week the NBA vetoed a trade that would send star point guard, Chris Paul, to the New Orleans Hornets. With the way it was handled, it is going to be tough for teams to put their players in the rumour mill to acquire Paul, and then ultimately not end up getting him.
On Saturday, the Hornets delivered a new deal to the NBA, which was rejected once more. The Lakers were slated to receive Paul, along with Jason Smith and Marcus Banks. Houston had agreed to send Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and a 2012 first round pick to the Hornets. The Lakers were giving up Odom to the Hornets, Pau Gasol to the Rockets, and were in the process of acquiring a first round pick to send to New Orleans.
The NBA clearly does not want the Lakers to get better, even if it means the Hornets improve in the process. So can Chris Paul be traded? And if he can, is he able to play for a team in which he will re-sign? It is up to the NBA I gues...
