After a five hour meeting on Friday, the League and Union could not come to an agreement, and the NBA has formally cancelled all games through the month of November. Once again, both sides were not able to come to an agreement on the split of basketball-related income.
The players did not want to go lower than 52% and the owners decided they needed to cancel more games.
I have to side with the owners on this one. One month without games is a $400 million loss to the players and going from 52% to 51% on a seven year deal is only a $280 million loss. It makes absolutely no sense to come down to a middle line in terms of BRI.
